Review from Relative of Resident – March 2018
Our mum came to St Joseph’s December 2017 and spent 3 weeks here during her final stages of life as a permanent resident.
The staff were absolutely incredible. I cannot commend them all enough. From nursing care right down to the kitchen staff and cleaners. Everyone so personable and caring.
Mums room was quiet and private, overlooking beautiful grounds and her care was second to none.
The staff were regular and Mum had early onset Alzheimer’s so continuity was important. Mum was so happy here.
Mum had final stages of cancer. The nursing care and palliative care she had was fantastic. She never felt any pain or discomfort.
We as her family were also looked after I feel. We were never rushed, always informed and I felt Mums care was very transparent which I liked, by this I mean that the care folder was always on hand for us to view and add to. There are kitchen facilities for us to use too (tea, coffee) as well as a fridge if we were to bring our own sandwiches/food during our visit.
2017 - Aunt of Resident

Our Aunt was fortunate to be transferred to St Joseph’s from Broomfield Hospital for end of life care. Whilst at St Joseph’s she received the best of care from kind, competent, professional and caring staff. A member of staff sat with her as she slipped away peacefully before we could get to the home. Through their caring approach, Staff were able to see and appreciate the best of her, when she was at her most vulnerable. All staff did their best to engage her in conversation and activities to the best of her ability.

She had a sunny room, overlooking the grounds of St Joseph’s and the whole atmosphere there is calm, unhurried and peaceful.

We too were treated with the kindest professionalism by all the staff we came into contact with. To reiterate, she was extremely fortunate to be able to live at St Joseph’s at the end of a very long life.

Our heartfelt thanks to all staff.

2017 - Friend of Resident

My friend was only admitted as a respite patient and enjoyed the service so much he has elected to stay as he says his care is excellent.

If I am ever in the unfortunate position to need care this is the place I will elect to be looked after as the staff and management do their utmost for the smooth and safe running of St Joseph’s.

2017 - Aunt of Resident

My aunt was treated with kindness and respect. The staff were helpful and attentive. Welcoming to us as visitors, offered drinks at any time of day or night. I couldn’t praise highly enough their efforts to make my aunt comfortable and highly regarded in her final weeks.

2017 - Daughter of Resident

My Mum has been at St Joseph’s now for almost 2 years. She would never want to move to another nursing home, even if it was closer to us – she just loves St Joseph’s. The staff are very friendly and they always take the time to chat and listen to my Mum’s needs.

The home is always clean and tidy and the recent renovations to flooring, decor etc. These last few months have made the home a nicer and cleaner place.

2017 - Daughter of Resident

On Thursday 16th April my father was transferred from a hospice to St Joseph Nursing Home. My father had terminal cancer and at that stage we didn’t know how long he had left.

From the moment we arrived, we were all treated with such kindness and care it made the situation much easier for us.

Dad was given the most professional and caring care that I have ever seen, I can’t thank the staff enough for all their support in this most difficult time.

I and the rest of the family will never forget and we feel very lucky that Dad spent his final days in such a special place.
